Healing Halo Inpatient Hospice Unit

Bringing back the cures and healing

More often than not, hospice care occurs wherever the patient lives. Hospice care teams typically travel to the patient, whether they live in a private home, a nursing facility, or a retirement center. This is the norm because patients who are terminally ill want to live the remainder of their lives in a well-known and comfortable setting. Additionally, because they can stay home, friends and family are free to visit them whenever they want to and enjoy whatever time they have left together. The majority of patients will largely remain in their residence for the entirety of their hospice care.

24/7 caregiving experience

Sometimes, however, patients require the expertise of round-the-clock care that only an inpatient hospice unit can provide. In addition to at-home services, At Home Hospice and Palliative Care also offers inpatient care for patients who need it for any number of reasons. It is crucial to remember that the goal of inpatient care is to stabilize the patient so that they may return to their home for the remainder of their hospice care. In other words, these units are intended as temporary solutions so that patients may get the immediate and comprehensive care they need before returning home. Throughout their stay at an inpatient unit, the patients’ care team remains in touch with the patients and their families so that everyone stays informed about the next steps and crucial decisions.

Bodily preferences, pain, toiling patterns

Patients become eligible for inpatient hospice care if their health deteriorates considerably. For example, suppose a patient suffers from sudden or uncontrollable pain that the hospice nurse and aide cannot alleviate. In that case, the patient will get transferred to an inpatient facility to receive the medication they need. Uncontrollable vomiting, nausea, or seizures will make a patient eligible for inpatient care, too. Patients who need regular dressing changes, close monitoring, or minor procedures to alleviate symptoms may also get transferred to these facilities. Once the symptoms lessen or no longer require round-the-clock care, patients get returned to their homes for regular hospice care. In addition to the at-home hospice care services we provide, we also have several inpatient facilities spread throughout the greater Los Angeles area. At these facilities, patients will receive the care they need to return home as quickly as possible. Whether the patient has to stay overnight or for an extended period, each room gets decorated to provide a cozy atmosphere and help the patient feel comfortable. The family is always encouraged to visit to stay involved in recovery. If your loved one needs to go into inpatient care, rest assured that they will receive the high-quality care you can expect from at-home hospice care.
